There are two ways to be involved with the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) as a manufacturer of casework. One is to be a member and the other is to qualify to be certified in their Certified Quality Program. We are involved in both. We are a member and are certified in the Certified Quality Program.
In our region, we are the only casework producer within 90 miles that is certified by AWI.
This certification is a reflection of the quality of our casework production. We have demonstrated to AWI that we produce casework that meet or exceed their quality standards. This certification gives architects and contractors the assurance that our products are produced using high quality materials and quality methods of production.
Architects can use this certification when specifying a project to ensure that the casework supplier for their project meets AWI standards. This can be done by requiring the casework supplier be certified or by registering the project as a certified project with AWI.
our involvement with AWI, we have the opportunity to provide Continuing
Educational Seminars for architects and contractors. These seminars
give the participants practical knowledge of how casework is produced.
The focus is on what to expect when specifying one of the 3 AWI
quality levels in project specifications.
The seminars also provide details about materials used. Product manufacturers are at the seminars to discuss their products uses and performance. They also provide information about their products from both from a historical perspective and looking forward. Participants are provided with a current AWI Quality Standards for reference back at their office. We also provide participants with manufacturers current product samples of laminate and solid surface materials.
More information is available on the AWI website at http://www.awinet.org/. This website provides a listing of AWI members and certified woodworkers.
